Hello, I am Christopher Robertson. I am an advocate for Cancer survivors and people struggling with cancer. The Betty Jean Cancer Free Organization was created to demonstrate how one common interest can save lives. Betty Jean Turner, my grandmother, was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer back in 2008. With the doctors delivering a traumatic blow to my siblings and me, this was devastating. From that point on, I felt determined to somehow get back at cancer in my mind because I was much younger at the time and couldn't grasp the concept, and I didn't know a whole lot about cancer til I studied it more and got older. It always bothered me mentally for years, this evil disease taking more friends and other family members of mine's lives with very short notice or any remorse. Cancer pretty much took my grandmother's life, and it had a big effect on my siblings and me because of the person she was and a great woman that raised us. Without further ado, I promise to black women an went one that has cancer or are currently being diagnosed with cancer by doing research on the best cures and doing research on other families who experienced this and what it was like and the direction they went to help cure cancer.
I wanna help families like mine that had to listen to doctors say they don't have but a couple months to live; know I understand and am trying to help. I wanna educate people not just the word itself, but what causes it or how to prevent it from happening. It's an attack on black women, being the 2nd leading cause of death under heart disease. Through my website, I want people to read, get educated, support my fundraiser, and support my meetings by coming, sharing their story, and letting me know what they expect from me and what they want in the future to help fight this disease. A lot of people are catching cancer, so it's not a race issue. I wanna help everyone tackle this. I'm naturally driven and ready, but the support through donations and more feedback will get us across the finish line.
Let's work together to make a difference.
