Future Goals

Goals: From the Heart

This nonprofit website gives me the opportunity to engage with others on a personal level. This comes from the heart. As I lay out my goals, I express my deepest gratitude to any and everyone who follows my page on this new cancer journey.

My Five Goals

These are the commitments that drive this organization forward, every day.

Goal One: Learn

Learn as much as possible about this disease and how to help others prevent or stop the chances of catching cancer.

Goal Two: Give

Donate to as many nonprofits as possible to show support for others in the cancer community doing the same work.

Goal Three: Grow Community

Grow as many followers as possible, branch out, and build a community of cancer survivors who don’t have a voice or any knowledge about this deadly disease.

Goal Four: Fundraise

Make as many fundraisers as possible with other nonprofits who share this same passion.

Goal Five: Honor & Awareness

Use this website in my grandmother’s name to help raise awareness and honor her passing, as a way of reuniting family and siblings to become more aware of this disease, as there is still no cure.

Understanding Hereditary Cancer Risk

Only 5% to 10% of cancers are hereditary, meaning they are caused by an inherited gene mutation. While a family history does not guarantee you will develop cancer, it significantly impacts your personal risk assessment, dictating when and how often you should undergo medical screenings.

Red Flags in Family History

You should inform your doctor about your family health history, particularly if it involves close blood relatives (parents, siblings, children) who have experienced:

Early onset: Cancers diagnosed before the age of 50.

Multiple cases: Two or more relatives on the same side of the family diagnosed with the same or related cancers.

Rare cancers: Diagnoses like male breast cancer or ovarian cancer.

Multiple diagnoses: A single family member who has had two or more different types of cancer.

Collecting Your History

To build a clear picture of your family’s health, document the details for your blood relatives (including aunts, uncles, and grandparents).

Be mindful that we need to fight this thing together.
